Hamilton takes Monza pole
World champion Lewis Hamilton has taken pole position for Sunday's Italian Grand Prix at Monza. The McLaren Mercedes driver lapped the 5.793-km circuit in a time of one minute 24.066 seconds to pip Force India's Adrian Sutil by 0.195s.

Sutil - Different feeling now - Force India driver says being competitive makes all the difference
Adrian Sutil says driving his newly-competitive Force India car gives him a "different feeling" than that experienced earlier in the season. After setting the pace in two of the three practice sessions during the Italian Grand Prix weekend, the German driver confirmed it during qualifying on Saturday with second place on the grid. Sutil had beaten the previous best time in the final session, set by world champion - and his former F3 team-mate - Lewis Hamilton with his final lap.

Raikkonen holds on at Spa
Kimi Raikkonen maintained his fantastic record at Spa but he had hold off a spirited challenge from Giancarlo Fisichella to win the Belgian Grand Prix. The Finn claimed a long-awaited first win of the season and has now won four out of the past five races at the high-speed circuit. It was suggested that polesitter Fisichella would not be in contention for the victory but the Italian just came off second best in a race-long battle.

Button: Car 'not performing'
Jenson Button admitted his championship lead will disappear quickly if he continues to have poor qualifying sessions like the one that sees him start 14th on the grid for the Belgian Grand Prix. Button starts the race 18 points ahead of BrawnGP team-mate Rubens Barrichello but with the Brazilian starting from the second row at Spa, his advantage looks certain to be cut.

New team named next week - BMW Sauber team in the running provided new backers can be found
FIA president Max Mosley has said the governing body will announce early next week which team will replace BMW Sauber on next season's Formula One grid. The Swiss-based team are one of the candidates, assuming they can secure new backing following the withdrawal of the German manufacturer, with Epsilon Euskadi and Litespeed the other candidates.

Hamilton surprised by pace
Italian Grand Prix polesitter Lewis Hamilton said he was surprised by McLaren's pace in qualifying at Monza. The defending world champion edged out Force India's Adrian Sutil for top spot with his final lap to record his second pole of the season.

Brawn defends Button
Ross Brawn has defended Jenson Button after a number of high profile Formula One names questioned his ability to cope with the pressure of leading the world championship.
