Dynazty - Gasklockan Stage (4/5)

Dynazty at Getaway Rock Festival 2011Boy, did I feel sorry for these guys. Dynazty are a band recently known to the public for participating with one song in the Swedish Eurovision song contest, with last year’s winning song ”This Is My Life”. That’s why you can’t help but wonder how come they got to finish this festival at one o’clock at night on the smallest stage at the same time as three Norwegian black metal clowns (Immortal) looking like pandas with a headline status and a budget superior to Dynazty’s. Had they played during the day, I’m sure the audience would have been a lot bigger than the 50 something that attended their gig now. On top of that, the sound system on this stage wasn’t the best which made them sound like they played in a bubble or something.

But having seen them live before, I know what a good live band they are and despite the circumstances the band made the best of the situation and played a high energetic show, with a youthful hunger and acting on stage as if they played to 5000 instead of 50. I salute that. Besides, their material is really strong.

Their music lies somewhere between metal and melodic rock that works great live. That and the fact that the whole band are amazing musicians makes their live performances really strong. Of course they played their hit song ”This Is My Life”, but there are better tracks. Mixing their  set with songs from their latest kick ass CD Knock You Down with ”Lights Out” and ”Catch The Night”, the best songs off their debut CD Bring The Thunder. I have no doubt that these guys will make it big and they got the chance to play a better venue and at a better time,

Dynazty could have been the festival’s big surprise. When they play your city, go check them out. You will not be disappointed.

When Papa Roach had their breakthrough, we wrote early 2000 and nu metal was the big thing. Together with Linkin Park and Limp Bizkit, the Roaches were the biggest hype of that era
