Alice Cooper - Monster Stage (5/5)

I have seen Alice Cooper on several occasions, but I must say that this concert was one of the best ones I have seen. His backing band are always really tight and this was no exception to the rule.

Alice Cooper at Getaway Rock Festival 2011The opening with ”The Black Widow” was majestic with Alice on top of a big stairway, looking all evil and like he owned the whole place. As a matter of fact he did. One thing I have always liked about the 63 year old shock rocker is that he never goes all Kiss on us and plays it safe with the same ole setlist tour after tour. Of course certain hits are a must like ”I’m Eighteen”, ”Billion Dollar Babies”, ”No More Mr Nice Guy” and ”School’s Out” and some of the hits like ”Under My Wheels” and ”Elected” has been with him for far too long and are expendable. But this is trivial because the songs still are ok and work well within the show.

I’m just dying to hear something of his masterpiece From The Inside from 1978.  A big no huge surprise was that he had dug up ”Clones” from his much underrated fiasco Flush The Fashion from his most drunken years. The song is a gem and this writer went all goosebumps. Also a new track was played, ”I’ll Bite Your Face Off”, off his forthcoming new Bob Ezrin produced album Alice Cooper - Monster Stage - Getaway Rock 2011Welcome 2 My Nightmare. In fact, Alice actually wore a leather jacket that said ”New Song” on its back. Humour!

And of course he got himself executed. Again by the guillotine. The guillotine has also been with him forever. Time for a change there, ole Al. Bring back the noose or the electric chair. It would be cool with something new in that department. ”School’s Out” and ”Elected” ended the show and left the big crowd with an explosion of confetti and big balloons and we all loved it.

There is no doubt that Alice is still going strong and I can’t wait for him to go back out on tour when his new CD comes out.
