Dundertåget (4/5)
On the very last day of the festival I got to see my first gig on the DZ-stage and it took a while before I found the place actually. I got in just in time to hear Dundertågets’s singer / guitarist Robert ”Strängen” Dahlquist kick off their show in what proved to be one of Peace & Love’s best gigs on the best stage.
Indoors, just large enough, which made the whole experience very intimate and close, and I find that very important when it comes to rock concerts. So it was quite hard to believe that you were at a festival when it felt like you were at a local gig in your hometown.
Anyway, this is Dundertåget’s first year as a band…some might think. They released their highly acclaimed debut album ”Skaffa Ny Frisyr” this year and immediatley started touring and getting great reviews. But the band is just another version of the band Thunder Express with the difference that Dundertåget sings the same songs in Swedish. And if you ask me, it was definately the right move for the guys.

This evening at Peace & Love we get to hear every song from the album plus a new one. The energy is amazingly intense from the start and these guys know how to please a crowd. You can see that Strängen, dressed in a Kiss t-shirt and a golden jacket, has picked up lots of his moves and style from Ace Frehley. Drummer Jesper Karlsson (also in Diamond Dogs) enjoys himself enormously and more than once he jumps out of his chair to run around for a bit.
We also get to see some classic Judas Priest-moves where the two guitars plus bass move from side to side and up in the air…and this is just so much rock’n’roll the crowd goes nuts!
Next time, when Dundertåget gets some more material than just one album, they will get the five.
