A bit about myself....
My name is Ronny Mattsson and I am the Press Manager at Peace & Love Festival. I am a 37 year old chap with a background in playing music, music journalism, film criticism and much more. I live in Stockholm but am born and raised in Borlänge, where the festival takes place. Besides Peace & Love I also work as a media analyst at another company.
When not working I like to relax and go fishing!
How did you start working in the Music Industry?
I formed my first own band around 1990 and also started working as a music journalist then. I also started arranging some clubs and music events around that time
So what are you working on at the moment?
Peace & Love opens tomorrow (22 of June) and I am now taking care of all the small practical details in my area (press/media) before the festival starts
What are your favorite / worst aspects of your job?
Best part is to be able to give the right information to media. Worst might be the stress at times
If you weren’t doing what you are now, what other job would you be doing?
I would probably be working as a Press Manager at some other place
If you could travel to any part of the world, where would you go and why?
I would go to Tropea in the southern parts of Italy. I was there last year straight after Peace & Love 2008 but I love the place and would love to go back. Calm, beautiful architecture, good food and splendid beaches. It´s a heaven on earth.
When not working what do you do for entertainment, relax?
Go fishing, solve cross words, travel, cross country running, drink some really good red wines
What makes Peace and Love better than other Swedish Festivals?
We offer more than just great music. We have debates, lectures and workshops circulating around certain themes and we are located in the middle of Sweden, it´s quite easy to travel here. Peace & Love is also located in and around the city of Borlänge, which makes it comfortable. It´s easy to buy food, eat dinners at real restaurants and much more. We do our own thing and it seems to work fine.
How did you manage to get some of the big names this year when they could have gone to other festivals – SRF for example?
We have a great Head of bookings called Göran
Which bands are you most looking forward to seeing this year?
Faith No More, Turbonegro, Peter Doherty, Ratatat, M83, Goodlooking Trash, Laakso, Hanna Berglund, Håkan Hellström, Gogol Bordello, Opeth, Carl Barât, The Stranglers, Henry Rollins, Slagsmålsklubben.
What will you be doing when Peace and Love is over?
Go further up north in Sweden on vacation, doing absolutely nothing.
When do you start planning for Peace and Love 2010?
Very, very soon after this year festival has ended. In some ways we have already started to plan for 2010
Are there any bands in particular you would like to see play at Peace and Love 2010?
Lots of bands but that would have to be a surprise for now!
