Metrorock begins its journey in the year 1999 when Domingo J. Casas (known music photographer) and Robert Azorín Durruty (former director of Radio Vinyl, Chain Top, Radio Cocodrilo, program director and producer of Radio 4 Mar continues to arch-known Los Heroes del Silencio) decide to mount an exhibition of photographs Photographer's top music of Spain. This initiative was renamed FotoRock, and was held at the Nuevos Ministerios station and Mar de Cristal, which also developed rock concerts.

Those first editions FotoRock, Metrorock were renamed with the departure of Dominic J Properties and the incorporation of Ramon Martin Scott as an associate producer of these events (professional tremendous experience in the field of Management artistic groups behind them as the border, Los Ronaldos, Hamlet and etc.) continued Metrorock mounted in different scenarios Metro stations. There were anywhere from artists such Amaral, Sôber, Raimundo Amador, Javier Álvarez, Miguel Ríos, Howitzer, Luis Eduardo Aute, O'funk'illo, La Frontera, Frank T, The Exception, Celtas Cortos, Hamlet, Sexy Sadie , and so on. Public response was so great (up to 10,000 young people in the 2003 edition) that the festival had to seek new location. This and subsequent editions of the festival, with the collaboration of Metro, the Community and Madrid City Council, which would be adding corporate partners and sponsors of the first order.

The first edition MetroRock outdoor plaza took place at the Lake of the Casa de Campo. MetroRock 2004 MetroRock 2004 had a lineup of top national figures: Sober, Macaco, Girls, Sfdk, Alex Sintek, Mürfila, O'funk'illo, Violadores del Verso ... acted on 25 and 26 June 2004 to more than 26,000 people
