Rock am Ring festival 2012 tickets have now sold out, with sister festival Rock im Park also selling at a record pace according to festival organisers

Linkin Park, Soundgarden and Gossip were among the most recent acts to be announced for the twin events, with more still to be revealed.??Metallica, who will play ‘The Black Album’ in its entirety, and Die Toten Hosen take headlining duties on the other two days.

Linkin Park are cited together with Metallica and Die Toten Hosen the field of competitors at Rock am Ring and Rock im Park. The most popular U.S. rock group of the last decade is in the summer of 2012 to release a new studio album and play the first time after five years at the twin festivals.  As more major events of the summer open-air Soundgarden reunited the original members, Canada's punk-alternative-heroes Billy Talent, the disco-rock formation at the Gossip frontwoman Beth Ditto charismatic and The Offspring have confirmed exclusive performances.

Other attractions include the coming global superstar of electronic music Skrillex, which was nominated for five Grammy awards recently, and Tenacious D, with the strong-voiced singer, actor and comedian Jack Black. The shows these two very different artists who are, for the first time in ring and in doing so, park, fans and promoters alike are expected with great excitement and anticipation. National bands and artists such as Deicide, MIA., Dick Brave & the Backbeats, Guano Apes, Donots and Lexy & K-Paul grandiose promises entertainment and illustrate the breadth of musical festivals.

With Kasabian, The Subways, Enter Shikari were also some of the most exciting British formations in recent years are required. Even the supporters of the harder to come at the current confirmations not too short. With Motorhead, Marilyn Manson, Machine Head, Killswitch Engage Opeth and diverse representation of the different facets and trends of metal genres are at the start.

Together with the already confirmed headliners Metallica, among others, play it, Black Album 'in its entirety, and Die Toten Hosen, their 30th Anniversary celebration, is characterized as early as now, that will be Rock am Ring and Rock im Park the highlight of the festival season.

Already more than 55,000 ring and Park Rocker is their ticket to the event at the Nürburgring and Nürnberg have secured. The current ticket price level of 160, - € on the ring and 155, - € is valid until 15 - € in the park including any fees, camping and parking, and garbage refundable deposit of 5, January 2012.

News - 25th November - METALLICA TO PLAY THE BLACK ALBUM IN FULL AT ROCK IM PARK 2012
Joining previously announced headliners DIE TOTEN HOSEN organisers have announced today that METALLICA will playing the Black album in full to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the album’s release!

Metallica have rocked the Ring & Park festivals in the years 1999, 2003, 2006 and 2008, The Black Album ‘reached number 1 in over 25 countries and spawned five hit singles incredible,’ Enter Sandman ‘,’ Sad But True ‘,’ Wherever I May Roam ‘,’ Nothing Else Matters ‘and’ The Unforgiven ‘. The CD’s worldwide with a circulation of 25 million. Metallica have a total of more than 100 million albums sold.

HISTORY

Rock am Ring was originally planned as a one-time festival celebrating the inauguration of a newer, shorter version of the track in 1985, but due to its commercial success (with 75,000 audience members), it was decided to make the concert an annual event. However, after a dip in attendance for the 1988 event, the festival was put on hiatus for two years.

In 1991, the festival returned with a new concept: as well as featuring well-known artists, event organizers present lesser known up-and-coming bands to the public.

In 1993, Rock im Park took place for the first time in Vienna. For the 1994 event, Rock im Park moved to the disused Munich-Riem airport, and the following year to Munich's Olympiastadion, where it found a home for the 1995 and 1996 event. Since 1997, Rock im Park is held at the Frankenstadion or the surrounding area in Nürnberg.

The 2007 festival was used in a science experiment to test the effects of large bodies of people simultaneously jumping. The experiment data was used to calculate the result if the entire Chinese population were to jump in unison. The experiment concluded no significant results would come from the theoretical event.
