HISTORY
Ankkarock is a Finnish rock and metal festival held annually in Korso, Vantaa, in the Greater Helsinki area. The first Ankkarock was held in 1989; the festival was free of charge until 1998.
In 2006 the two-day event attracted approximately 40,000 visitors. The 2007 festival took place on 4 August and 5 August.
HOW TO GET THERE
BY TRAIN
You can get to Korso easily by local train K, which operates between Helsinki and Kerava. Station for Ankkarock is Korso. K-train will change for N- and T-trains in the evening, but it doesn't make any difference. From Korso railway station it's only less than 10 minute walk to the gates. Festival camping is in the same direction, 300 metres from the gates.
If you come from the northern parts of Finland, jump out at the Tikkurila or Pasila train station and change for Korso train.
BY CAR
There's not many parking areas in Korso, so we recommend public transportation. There's a free parking garage next to the roundabout of street corner of Kotkansiipi Urpiaistentie. Garage opens 10 a.m and closes 01.00am. This garage will most likely be full at some point.
From Turku
Take Turuntie (E18) towards Helsinki( aprox.120km), then turn to road kehä III to the east(itä), drive that around 20 km, and then turn to the Lahdentie(road number 4), and again drive around 20 km, then you'll see the sign Korso.
From Helsinki
Take Lahdentie (number 4) towards north, drive aprox. 20 km and you'll see the sign Korso.
BY BUS OR PLANE
Bus number 731 operates from Helsinki to Korso. - Long distance buses in Finland are operated by Matkahuolto.
The closest airport is Helsinki-Vantaa international airport, which is close. Take the local bus number 61, ride to the Tikkurila (travel time 20 minutes) train station and hop into a K-train towards Kerava. Same ticket is valid in both transports, exchange time is 1 hour from the beginning of the first trip.
