News 23rd March - MORE BANDS AND DAYS ANNOUNCED
The 38th edition of the Lokerse Feesten will be held from Friday, August 3 till Sunday, August 12 2012. Earlier the performances of The Beach Boys (Tue Aug 7) and New Order (Fri Aug 10) were announced.

The provisional line-up:

Friday 3 aug: ’t Hof Van Commerce – Selah Sue – Damian ‘Jr Gong’ Marley
Tuesday 7 aug: The Beach Boys – The Australian Pink Floyd Show
Friday 10 aug: New Order – Trentemöller (dj-set)

Advance purchase for August 3 and 9 starts immediately. Ticket sales for August 7 and 10 are already ongoing. Order tickets via www.lokersefeesten.be or in a Mediamarkt shop.

HISTORY OF LOKERSE FESTIVAL

The Lokeren Festival is a ten-day city festival which takes place during the month of August in Lokeren, East Flanders, Belgium. The Lokeren Festival took first place in 1975. The 36th edition takes place from Friday, July 30 through Sunday, August 8, 2010.

What began as a small party organized by local youth and a few enthusiasts in 35 years grew into a full 10-day city festival. The festival grounds on the Grand Quai has today a capacity of 15,000 visitors. The term "Lokerse Party " has become a generic term for all activities within those 10 days in the city of Lokeren (as happened with the Ghent Festivities). Other activities (stages) during the period of the Lokeren Festival and the Fonnefeesten Polifonics.

Over the years, the festival has many large domestic and foreign names soon. Some examples: Simple Minds, The Cure, The Sisters of Mercy, Iggy & The Stooges, Madness, Echo & The Bunnymen, The Human League, the Sex Pistols, Sinead O'Connor and Front 242.

GETTING TO LOKERSE FESTIVAL BELGIUM

BY CAR

By car: via E17 Gent-Antwerpen - exit 12 bis or via Antwerpse Steenweg (N70) Antwerpen - Gent. Follow the signs installed at the exits and at the access roads into Lokeren (Belgium).

PARKING

Not exactly an easy task during the Lokerse Feesten. Local police are very strict concerning parking regulations during that week and your car will be towed if not parked according to the rules.

SHUTTLE

Going to the Lokerse Feesten by car? Use the shuttle service. Each day from 6:30 pm till 2:30 am. On sunday, 01/08 from 5:00 pm! Price: 2 euro per person (two-way ticket). You can park at the industrial site E17/1 (Zelebaan). Follow the signs installed at the motorway exits and at the access roads into Lokeren. Local police will patrol regularly at the industrial site and will make sure the shuttle buses have easy passage and parking. It is the quickest and easiest way to visit the Lokerse Feesten by car. The shuttle service is an initiative of the Lokerse Feesten but is carried out by De Durme Reizen and falls therefore completely under the sole responsibility of De Durme Reizen.

BY BUS OR TRAIN

The Lokerse Feesten festival grounds are only a 5-minute walk away from the train station. There are no special timetables during the Lokerse Feesten. For more information on the timetables:

If you feel that the last train/bus back is much too early, you can spend the night in our night bar. With a bit of luck you will be able to enjoy a beautiful sunrise on the first train back.

BY BIKE OR MOTORBIKE

We advise those who do not live far from the festival grounds to come by bike or motorbike. You will find free storage accommodations at different locations in Lokeren. For bikes: at the train station and at the sports centre. For motorbikes: at the athletics track. Both the sports centre and athletics track are in the immediate vicinity of the festival grounds (Sportlaan). Do not forget to use your padlock!
